SENNENTUNTSCHI von Michael Steiner

2010 | Movie drama

1975, Swiss Alps: On a remote Alp a young woman of wild beauty, seemingly out of nowhere, appears.

Village policeman Reusch tends to the foreign woman unreservedly and tries to find out who the mute woman is. There is growing evidence that the woman comes from the Höhenalp where Sennen, in their solitude, do many and unimaginable things to obtain female company.

What should have stayed hidden, comes to light. A tragedy of lust, madness and murder pours itself over a seemingly perfect world. It is the beginning of a nightmare of sanctimonious murder, hypocrisy, abuse and belief in demons, which engulf the dreams of two lovers and an entire village in the abyss and lets people lose far more than their belief in what holds the world together in its innermost. In this world, every truth is ambiguous; each incident has its terrible reflection.
